Reading is racist
Re: Pencil holding
I am an art student at a local college. I have seen young students in their teens wearing splits on their wrists due to tendon damage.
I don’t care that cursive isn’t taught anymore...but...learning how to hold a stylus, pen, or pencil is vital to hand-health!
( I decided to study art when I retired.)
I learned how to read before I entered kindergarten.
When I started school ITA was all the rage.
I was made to write in class using phonetic spelling.
That screwed up my spelling for years.
Phonics is easier for teachers.
That’s why they teach it.
Great story!
The things my grand kids have said floor me every time I get a report.
Children learn to read by age 3 or 4 whose loving parents snuggle beside them while reading age-appropriate books from infancy on, and who provide interest-appropriate books in the child’s room or play area. Reading to kids every day is one of the best things a parent can do. Graduate from picture books for babies to story books for youngsters to family Bible time for teenagers.
As if we need more evidence of our failed public school system.
They could start the day with the Lord’s Prayer.
Yo, Bid Daddy Upstairs,
You be chillin’
So be yo hood
You be sayin’ it; I be doin’ it
In dis hood and in Yo’s
Gimme some eats
And cut me some slack
So’s I be doin’ it to dem dat diss me
Don’t be pushin’ me into no jive
And keep dem Crips away
Cuz you always be da Man
Skraight up.

So true. And that is the way it was done for decades until the family unit was destroyed and the raising of children was turned over to the government and public schools.
I miss Sobran.
