Have driven over 1 million miles in my ICE vehicles.
The 2 sitting in the driveway have a combined mileage of 569,000 +++.. THE ONLY NEW CAR I EVER OWNED-—I put 444,000 + on it & sold it to a restorer-—the engine ran fine.
NEVER HAVE HAD A FIRE IN ANY OF THE VARIOUS VEHICLES I have owned.
But IT COULD HAPPEN just any time from now. You never know and you can never say never.
How can you bear the knowledge of the risk that they may develop a short circuit and burst into flame any day?
The thought of such a tragedy maybe happening to you or me or anyone is just terrifying! Oh the horror!
/s of course.
OTOH, I do wonder how much risk there is in all the lithium ion batteries I have around this place. I sure would not park an EV in a garage attached to the house.
You must not have owned a VW Bug, almost every roadside fire I passed was a bug. I think they made a lot of engine components out of paper.
