Trump keeps saying he can end the war in 24 hours without saying how. As much as I like him, he needs to spell it out or stop saying this.

We have strategic interests in Taiwan and the South China Sea. Interests so great as to male full scale war with China worth it.

We have no interests in Ukraine. None.

Why would you conflate the two? You are either being disingenuous or you are ignorant of the matter.

Who armed themselves during that time and armed for what war?
The Ukrainians armed themselves for war as in being invaded by Russia? And Russia did not notice this arming until after they invaded and things moved very slowly thereafter?
Not a knock but some of the explanations given on these threads for both sides actions leave me more puzzled.

I can’t see Ukraine acquiescing to being a subordinate state to Russia. I can’t see Russia accepting anything less.

We have interests in Russia upholding its signed international agreements. Russia invading Ukraine for territorial gain also violates the basis of our international legal order which is that one country does not invade another country, and annex territory.

If Russia succeeds in its annexation this will definitely embolden China, like it or not.

All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations

No American energy exports to Europe and the good jobs that come with it. NATO EU defense contracts to South Korea, etc., instead of US. European companies more competitive against US business. Russia with more resources to attack us, etc.

Strongman fetishizing and America Last in lieu of America First.

no problem - just turn off the welfare weapons spigot and peace will breakout...likely just have to declare current frontlines the new boundaries but a ceasefire should be immediate..Let them negotiate changes if both parties agree.

Actually he did say how, on fox news I think. They cut that bit because it was tantamount to giving Putin Crimea and the Donbas,and asking for nothing substantial, meaningful or binding in return.

Trump might just as well have gone the whole hog by offering to remove the article 5 umbrella from the Baltic, or USA leave NATO, to sweeten the deal.

To think there was a time when America had presidents who refused to negotiate with terrorists, or at least would expect a quid pro quo. Or maybe that’s just in the movies.
