Yes, I recall.. A small and whacky minority but so vicious.

Re the Ativan. I heard horror stories from fellow caregivers of elderly parents/grandparents that were given Ativan in the hospital and how it caused horrible hallucinations that never went away. I know hospital delirium (aka ICU pychosis) is common in the elderly, and cannot rule that out, but these people all said no delirium or hallucinations before the Ativan). I know that any drug, especially any psychotropic drug, can have additional or worse side effects in the elderly, but this one seemed to be particularly bad.

I am not not a doctor and cannot conjecture about whether the Ativan played a part in this, but I do wonder.

ativan is mostly a sedative. It can cause horrible delirium usually in elderly but in younger folks if anything it makes you sleepy. withdrawal from it could be another story - while not physically dangerous it could make you agitated and edgy. I would wonder what else he was on legally or illegally and what mental illness they were treating.
