Asian immigrants were subjected to discrimination in California. Japanese immigrants were interned in WWII thanks to FDR and Earl Warren. But probably the majority of Asians now living in California are from post-WWII immigration so their ancestors were not the victims.
Japanese - Americans got reparations in the 80’s. You had to still be alive in 1989 to get the cash though.
They should write their reparation law the same way — maybe even include a grandfather clause — if you can PROVE that your grandpa was a slave, you get 40 acres and a mule.
