Satanists applauded Friday as leaders of SatanCon 2023 opened events by shredding "symbols of oppression," including a "Thin Blue Line" flag and a copy of the Bible.
"We stand here today in defiance of their siege and destroy their symbols of oppression," one leader, a woman, announced to the crowd before shredding pages from the Bible, according to a report.
The other leader, a man, tore a "Thin Blue Line" flag in two and threw it to the floor.
"We must build true community outside of the virtual," he said.
"Rebelling comes in many forms to each and their own within their own capabilities and their own situation. For some of us, merely existing one more day is victory, but for those of us who can, we must stand up for those who cannot."
SatanCon 2023 was hailed as three days of the "largest satanic gathering in history" hosted by the Satanic Temple at Boston's Marriott Copley Place, the report noted.
This year's event commemorates the temple's 10th anniversary, and it was dedicated to Boston's Democratic Mayor Michelle Wu because the temple had not been allowed to deliver a satanic invocation at a 2021 city council meeting, according to the report.
Since its founding, the temple has reported unabated growth.
There are more than 700,000 members, according to the group's website.
The goal of the temple, which identifies as a nontheistic religious organization, seeks to "encourage benevolence and empathy, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense, oppose injustice, and undertake noble pursuits."
SatanCon 2023 featured myriad speakers, including many preaching what appeared to be left-wing identity politics, the report noted.
Several lectures on "self-pleasure" and the transgender identity were offered by liberal professors.
The event called "Hellbillies: Visible Satanism in Rural America" was hosted by a transgender man who became pregnant "after hooking up with someone on Grindr," according to the report.
Catholics pushed back against the event, and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston called for "intense prayer."
"We ask Catholics not to organize or encourage others to go to the event to protest. It will only make it more prominent and give the organizers the attention they seek," the archdiocese said.
"Rather than protesting in person, we hope to storm the Heavens with prayer from our shrines, monasteries, and parishes."
Talk is cheap, eternity is forever.

Phrases that don't go together: "common sense" and "man who became pregnant" and "Grindr".
Try shredding/burning a fag flag at a conservative convention and see what happens. You can’t even drive on their queer crosswalks anymore with impunity.

Are there really people who worship Satan, or are they just yanking Christians’ chains?
One thing I know about Atheists, is they love to call God and Jesus myth, and tell me they’re no more relevant than Thor, Jupiter/Zeus, or any other “Flying Spaghetti Monster”—a joke about God.
They seem to revel in it. So wouldn’t “worshiping” Satan be acting like they accuse Christians of?

Funny how they don’t shred a koran. Even demonic forces know that it is a false religion.
Why bother giving these people the time of day? A person’s salvation is their personal responsibility. Nothing any protestors are going to say or do is going to change their minds.
Maybe they don’t believe in Satan but just oppose Christianity. Otherwise their movement makes no sense.
I mean how do they know Satan exists? Because the Bible told them so?
