“Wow! You are REALLY dense. Did you even read the news article at the link I provided?”

I did read it. Medvedev — a semi-coherent drunkard — threatens nuclear war every fortnight or so. I thought you were alluding to him when you made your comment; hence I asked for your source. You did not disappoint: You identified the most untrustworthy Russian of them all. He said that a nuclear power that loses a conventional war can provoke a nuclear war. Well, if that is the case, there should have been nuclear wars ever since 1953 when some “experts” claim the US lost in Korea; and in 1954 when
France lost in Indochina; hell, even the US “losing” in Vietnam. And yet, no one nuked anyone.

I have one already, you overrate your attempt at humor if that is what it was.

Unless you eat it or ingest it DU is not a concern.

And that is the issue. Once a projectile hits, it shatters, causing dust to be breathed in, land on skin, water, land, etc. Just look at the birth defects from areas in Iraq closest to where these projectiles were used heavily.

I oppose any use of depleted uranium by any nation.

According to Colonel Douglas Macgregor DUs are not a problem.

Not for him personally.

Again, if you search and view babies born with birth defects in Iraqi areas where they were used you will be horrified, read any studies done, or think about how Uranium 60% to 75% as radioactive as regular Uranium is no problem, I think you would see it different.

Seismic detection was designed to detect underground tests, although they triangulated the Kursk explosion well. A tactical air burst probably would not couple with the ground enough. The Vela satellites haven’t been in use since 1986, although we probably have some sort of asset watching from above that could detect the flash.

Problem with DU is that when it hits armor it is partially aerosolized and the dust can be inhaled. A very bad way to have contact with radioactive material. (Possible exception is tritium, you just drink a bunch of beer to flush out the system)

He was addressing its use against the Russians in Ukraine.

Macgregor has extensive experience with DU.

Are radiation sensors not installed already in every hospital?

Nope. A DU round — actually, it’s a dart — tends to stay within the tank and burn (it actually pierces the armor first; it does not explode on impact), and does not release a bunch of pollutants into the air around and above the tank; its destructive power is concentrated within the tank itself. In contrast, a more problematical source of pollutants and contaminants — especially to nearby communities — comes from the ubiquitous burn pits that all militaries employ.

No, I have read research.
I do not want US or Russia nor any nation to use them.
I don’t want leftists to use them, nor western countries to use them.

Col. Macgregor puts to rest the Russian propaganda about the depleted uranium rounds.

Macgregor: “It’s very good it’s very effective I could attest to that personally and as far as I can tell no one has contracted cancer from being near it around it or having used it and I certainly loaded rounds and it’s been
a great deal of time around it and I was also on the battlefield where we fought after the war and saw evidence of the damage that was inflicted
I don’t know what President Putin’s information is and the Russians are pretty sober-minded and normally I think if they knew what they were dealing with they would not make these comments suggesting that this had quote-unquote nuclear implications but perhaps they’ve decided that this has some propaganda value that harms Us in the public eye I have no idea.”
