Rep. Pat Fallon to Newsmax: Trump 'Fabulous' in 'Thwarting Putin'

There has been only one president this century who has kept Russia's Vladimir Putin from invading former Soviet Union states, and that is undoubtedly former President Donald Trump, Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, told Newsmax.

"He projected strength, and that's exactly what President Trump told me," Fallon told Saturday's "The Count," slipping briefly into Trump's voice to tell his story. "He said, you know, 'Vladimir, I don't want to come in and have to have to knock off your iron dome in Moscow.'

What is not the truth is "anything that comes out of Putin's Kremlin," according to Fallon, who praised Trump's ability to keep Putin's aggression at bay during his administration.

"Let's look at what Putin has done over the last 15 years: In 2008, he stole two provinces from Georgia under George W. Bush. In 2014, Crimea under [Barack] Obama, and then, of course in full-scale invasion under [Joe] Biden.

"But for four years he didn't act aggressive at all toward his neighbors, and that was during the Trump years."

"He said he made it very clear to Putin that he wouldn't stand for it, and then he would wage economic war and, you know, unleash the American energy sector, so therefore Putin couldn't fund his war," Fallon continued.

Support for Ukraine is a hotly debated topic, but Fallon told host John Tabacco that America cannot do nothing.

Because Trump set the kind of tough tone needed and wasn’t interested in the kind of provocations Biden and Zelensky staged to egg Russia into attacking.

More than a tough tone. The Left used to seem to try to alarm people in reporting:

"When you actually look at the substance of what this administration has done, not the rhetoric but the substance, this administration has been much tougher on Russia than any in the post-Cold War era," said Daniel Vajdich, senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. Take military spending: Trump sought to add $1.4 billion for fiscal year 2018 to the European Deterrence Initiative — a military effort to deter Russian aggression that was initially known as the European Reassurance Initiative. That's a 41 percent increase from the last year of the Obama administration.

The president also agreed to send lethal weapons to Ukraine — a step that Obama resisted. And Trump gave U.S. forces in Syria more leeway to engage with Russian troops... "Those loosened rules of engagement have resulted in direct military clashes with Russian militants and mercenaries on the ground, actually resulting in one incident in hundreds of casualties on the Russian side," Vajdich said.

And those who protest NATO's overall spending of only about 3% of its GDP are opposing Trump. For contrary to being a Putin puppet as the Left prevaricates - and who were blaming him in Feb. 2020 for this invasion,

..nearly all 29 NATO members have increased their defense spending since Trump came to office, and at least 16 of the 29 are on track to meet their 2024 defense spending goals. Defense spending among 27 NATO allies has increased consistently between 2016 and 2018, with Hungary, Norway, Romania and Turkey making some of the biggest increases.

Meanwhile, when procurement costs are taken into consideration (how much it cost for training and materials in respective countries relative to what they spend), then despite having far less to defend, the US military budget in 2019 was not larger than the next eleven countries. Rather it was smaller than the next three.

Both Putin and Biden seek victory for their legacy. If Trump was in office and provided aid to Ukraine the Left would be warning about provocations and reporting the negative side it avoids now. Both the anti-evangelical Putin and the Left are at war with God.
