Bingo! Was Ron talking about the deep state before Trump came on the scene? Of course not. He was part of the club and was happy to perpetuate the Dems vs. Reps controlled opposition illusion.
The Republican party before Trump was controlled opposition, pretending the Democrats were the sole reason nothing got done. And Ron never did a thing to expose it. Does anyone remember Ron even criticizing John Boehner or Paul Ryan, let alone having the guts to publicly nominate someone else for Speaker or vote against them? Yeah, me neither.
Remember all the “We’re only one half of one branch of government. There’s only so much we can do.” talk prior to Trump? And the vast majority of Republican voters bought into it completely. We would hear passionate and eloquent speeches about Constitutionalism and the rule of law from people like Ted Cruz, Trey Gowdy, and a host of others who knew all along that it was all for show and would change nothing.
