'Hate speech' law. You are reading too much agitprop (which outnumbers legit stories currently about 5 to 1). Read the other threads here on the 'hate speech' law -- better yet, read the actual text. I don't like it either, in fact, it's probably my least favorite actions on DeSantis' part. What else has he done that has disappointed you? Honest question.
Who said I'm ditching Trump? Again, you are following the unfortunate pattern so prevalent here on FR right now -- that if someone speaks kindly of DeSantis, they must be against Trump! Beware of the black and white viewpoint.
As I have stated here publicly several times recently, I voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020, and will glady pull the lever for him again in 2024, God willing. If DeSantis is the GOP candidate, then I'll pull the lever for him. But too many here who are blindly "Trump or DIE!" will not do the same. You want surrender? That's surrender.
The simple fact here is, and again, I repeat myself, is that they are both good men. They are on the same side. They have widely differing personalities and methods, but they are both worthy, both have done great things for state and country, so there is absolutely no reason to be at each other's throats all the time about the two of them.
Speaking of disappointments, I have one in particular towards Mr. Trump, and that is the fact that he started this unhappy barrage of disparaging rhetoric against DeSantis and continues to do so. That, unfortunately, gives his acolytes carte blanche to do the same. If he stopped, they would stop. As it is, our adversaries on the left are eating it up. Why do such 'conservatives' feel so self-justified in feeding the beast?
Yeah, I've never been a cheerleader for Trump. Not that he's terrible, but, again, because of being burned in the past. His rhetoric turns me off too. But it is why he is successful. He goes after his "enemy," business or political.
Of course it's not black or white, but at the end of the elections cycle, you choose between one candidate or another.
What has disappointed me about DeSantis? The aforementioned hate speech bill. He keeps saying he's not a Presidential candidate, yet he's traveling the world like a potential candidate.
Body Language Ghost just reviewed a press conference clip of him in Japan that I hadn't seen. I didn't need her to tell me he wasn't being honest. Florida House just passed a bill that allows DeSantis to remain Governor while running for President. Why did Florida Republicans do that? So DeSantis can veto it? He's really starting off on the wrong foot. Changing state laws so you can advance your politcal career is a big turn off to me.
Heading out the door to evening chores. Have a nice weekend.
