I remember this being a regularly discussed thing back in 1996 by the media and the Democrats - suggesting Bob Dole would die in office because he was too old at 73 to be elected and serve as President.
Remember when the democrats screamed bloody murder when Reagan was elected at 69 and inaugurated at the age of 70?
They were very shrill about him not living out his term because of OLD AGE!
One magazine (I believe it was ESQUIRE) even had an illustration of a dead Reagan laying on a morgue table.
