yes
IRS is totally political
a couple of years ago some IRS bounty hunters stumbled across the massive fraud in the Clinton Foundation, testified, and nothing, nada, zip

“I din’t see anyone complaining about DeSantis on this thread nor was his name in the article.”

I invoke DeSantis often to remind people liberals are fighting a cultural war and they are fighting to win.

More often than not, they are winning. Not in an eternal sense but on a right now, here-on-earth sense.

DeSantis is the foremost conservative opposing liberals. As the governor of the third largest state he has a pretty good platform for his message.

No known connection to the cultural war, but the IRS is hiring 87,000 new armed agents. It is thought they will be used to bring Hunter Biden to justice.

Yes, and it's so frustrating. My purse was stolen last Sunday. I had to change my account numbers. I have a payment arrangement with the IRS and they deduct the amount from my account monthly, so I've been trying to notify them so they won't have any difficulty next month. But it has now been five days and I still haven't been able to do this simple thing with them.

Social Security is almost as bad. You can't call them. You have to go down to one of their offices to notify them. Once I got my temporary replacement driver's license, I went there only to be told they don't accept a temp license as identification. So I have to wait until the replacement shows up, then go back down there just to notify them of my stolen SS card.

Our Fedzilla at work. Ain't it grand. *Shakes head and sighs.

My dad passed away and I had to get my congressman involved just to get my dad’s IRS transcript. Even that took several back and forth emails.

First, my condolences on the passing of your dad. Then about the IRS, it’s crazy. The fed gov is so out of control and incompetent on so many levels that I don’t know if or how we can ever get it back under control.

This isn’t new. They’ve had an armed division for a long time. If you’re investigating tax fraud issues ala Al Capone, you don’t go knocking on doors without weapons.

I almost served in this division. It’s been around for at least 40 years.

I had an opportunity once, maybe 25 years ago, to buy a Blued Walther PP (or PPK or something) at a local gun store which had just come from a WW2 veteran’s estate.

I have regretted NOT buying this pistol for many years.

Why?

It had been the personal sidearm of a Reichs Ministry of Finance officer with his name/office title engraved on the slide.

Up until that point, the concept of ARMED federal tax agents was totally foreign to me, a concept beyond my understanding of Constitutional governance.

A friend, a pilot for NW airlines, had told me a few years previously that he often saw Dept. of EDUCATION officials’ names on his flight pax manifests with marks noted those officials were ARMED and THAT blew me away.

Fast forward to 2023, and what’s old is new again.

Those old Obama-era “Fourth Reich” T-shirts aren’t just collectors’ items, they were prophecy.

The IRS didn’t need 87,000 armed agents until Biden was in the WH.

Not a single IRS employee should be allowed to carry a firearm.

That’s an incredibly sweeping statement, which indicates being wrong nearly 100% of the time.

So a woman who works for the IRS in the mail room and has a violent ex-husband who’s violated multiple protection orders, can’t own a firearm?

If some joker in the hills of KY is printing out refund checks and filing fake returns, the IRS should send him cease and desist letters? Knock and ask politely if he could try to cut down on that silliness? Wait by his driveway and shake their fists at him?

Thank GOD there are still grown-ups in the room.
