Someone told me, that we are seeing more gay and transgender people because. :
1. Society has become more accepting of gay and trans
2. Prominent people such as Ellen Degeneres are open about it
3. We know more about these issues than in the past. In the past someone trans may not have known how to express their feelings. But now that we are allowed to talk about trans issues, people realize that their feelings of being trans are understandable.
Well, we certainly do hear about all this LGBT and 50 plus gender identities all the time now. At one time the subjects were not mentioned in polite company.

It also means that sexuality is malleable - which was denied by the same people not so long ago.
The excuse for gay men was “God made them that way”. Now we have, “God put you in the wrong body, we’ll fix it”.
Love is not love when referencing purely sexual habits.
Sex is not ‘assigned’ at birth.
You cannot ‘transition’ to another sex.
If a man doesn’t want to date a ‘trans-woman’ he’s transphobic.
