I’ve seen little evidence that will happen. The economy is the key. The American public is stupid, distracted, and grossly self-interested. But the public does know how much money they have to indulge themselves. If the crash that is coming, hits before the election, Democrats are toast. The public will vote for anyone, anything that isn’t Democrat.
On the subject of a crash, it appears to me that Americans are spending using any and all available credit. At some point, they will exhaust their credit lines, and the interest on their accumulated debt will crush them. Since we are a consumer driven economy, that will be the crash.
The combination of inflation and higher rates on debt is going to wake up many people in the coming 18 months.
