My thought too. 10 years ago l saw trannys as a fringe group of people with severe mental problems. That was before they started mutilating children and grooming.

Shoot, I don't think anybody gave it another thought but that one. As for Trump, if I were in his shoes back then, I probably would have allowed it just to gen some extra free publicity and get a bump in ratings and ad income. Nowadays? Nope. But things are always clearer in a rear-view mirror.
