Kawhi Leonard’s sister has been given a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole for the killing of an elderly woman.
Kimesha Williams — the Clippers superstar’s sister — was convicted for first-degree murder, robbery and elder abuse in February, and received her sentence on Friday.
Along with the 39-year-old Williams, Candace Townsell, 42, received the same conviction and sentence for the 2019 murder. The pair followed 84-year-old Afaf Assad to a bathroom at the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, Calif., according to the Mercury News.

Kimesha Monae Williams and Kawhi Leonard NBA star Kawhi Leonard’s sister charged with murdering elderly woman Williams went into the bathroom while Townsell played lookout, and the latter even blocked a custodian from entering the bathroom.
Assad was wearing a purse containing around $1,000 for gambling.
She was found with hear skull fractured and her head bleeding.
The purse was missing when Assad was found as well.
Assad died four days later.
There were no witnesses to the incident, but a woman in another stall in the bathroom heard a thud and claimed Williams and Townsell sped toward the casino’s exit.
“This has been a long, painful journey through the criminal court justice system,” Assad’s daughter, Mary, said in the victim impact statement , according to the report. “I still can’t believe my mother was the victim of a violent crime. … Part of me died in that hospital room with her.
“My father is without his wife and partner and is isolated and alone in a way we cannot begin to understand … We seek not vengeance but there needs to be a reckoning for their heinous act.” ***

The victim. [Notice that the mendacious journalist used a screenshot which infers that the white person was sentenced to life in prison]
Good. Should happen more often if they don’t have the death penalty.
The death penalty needs re-instatement. And swift exercise thereof.
The victim’s age should have no bearing on the sentence. It’s odd that it was even brought up, much so in the headline. Age could be mentioned once in the last paragraph of the story as information about the victim, but the term ‘elderly’ is irrelevant. Readers should be able to decide if she was ‘elderly’ for themselves.
The usual suspects.
Seems to me age is relevant since this much younger and stronger woman beat her and robbed her
Charming
i cannot find a pic online of Candace Townsell.
when I do a search for Townsell and click “images”, I get an entire top line of pics from various MSM outlets...of the elderly white woman in the NY Post story, with captions suggesting the pic is of the NBA star’s sister.
not even a mention of Kimesha Williams in the caption showing. MSM needs to be shut down.
Way to go Kimesha, life in prison and all for a lousy
thousand dollars. Such a deal.
Several legal penalties are enhanced if the age of the victim is below or above certain ages. So age is relevant in this story, IMHO.
Kawhi Leaonard’s sister commits murder for $1K. I guess Kawhi didn’t take good care of his family with his NBA dollars ….. but OTOH who knows the family dynamics.
Cutlines as they are known in the newspaper business go under the related photo, or to the side.
Elder Abuse was one of the charges she was convicted for, so the use of the word elderly is entirely accurate and appropriate.
Kawhi was hailed greatly during his one year in Toronto leading to their only championship. His father who ran a car repair shop IIRC was murdered by some thugs some years ago so the dynamics are indeed swirling for his family.
It should be mentioned because it shows the predatory nature of the criminal. Those who prey on the weak should be shown for what they are.
CC
They did have highly paid lawyers, no doubt funded by the NBA star, but it was useless. They will both rot in prison but the lawyers still got paid.
Kawhi can’t get away, no matter how good he is
sad
They were at a casino, how do you know they didnt blow $50K in the hours before the murder?
So many “superstars” I’ve never heard of.
That’s true I don’t.
I was at a local casino a couple of years ago and got an $8K hit. I asked for security to escort me to my car. They provided a five-foot unarmed woman. LOL.
Superstar. Lol. Well, everything's relative.
