I remember when the bussing of school kids ran white out of the San Fernando Valley into Palmdale/Lancaster area.
The developers couldn’t build houses fast enough. The county couldn’t build water mains fast enough. The developers dug DEEP wells, but made sure they could be connected when the water systems caught up.
ALL the ALFALFA FARMERS west of there growing alfalfa lost their water supply & couldn’t afford to dig new DEEP wells.
I grew up in Palmdale - moved there in ‘62.
It was a wide spot in the road surrounded by desert.
