A new text alert system aims to warn Chicago residents of future “teen takeovers.” This most recent “teen takeover” occurred last weekend, in which Chicago youth wreaked havoc throughout the city, committing a litany of crimes including shootings, arson, theft, and assault.
The text alert initiative, “Parents For Chicago,” is being funded by the nonprofit, “I’m Telling, Don’t Shoot,” launched by a local, independent philanthropist. Those wishing to sign up for the alert service can text “CHICAGOKIDS” to 21000, or email ParentsForChicago@gmail.com.
While Chicago residents have decried the violence and, now, are attempting to counter it, leadership has largely defended the youths’ crimes.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot promised that the teens who committed crimes would be “dealt with,” but insisted that the community shouldn’t call the takeover “mayhem.” Three teenagers, aged 14 through 17, were shot and 15 individuals were arrested as a result of the weekend-long takeover by over 100 teens throughout the city.
“I’m not going to use your language, which I think is wrong, to say there’s ‘mayhem,’” Lightfoot told reporters.

The way to stop an invasion, is with swift and overwhelming force. Two can play the mob game.
Chicago is lost and beyond saving at this point so just let it die. In 10 years it will be another Detroit. They are just getting what they voted for.
I agree. It’s ridiculous how the police are approaching this crisis. A HUGE gang of “teens or youths” attack an area, beat up, steal, vandalize etc. basically cause mayhem.
So the police identify one, two, three maybe a 1/2 dozen thugs who were the worst them prosecute them. The other 200 are left alone. Hilarious. It will solve nothing. They are acting as a gang. They should be punished as such. Round them all up, literally hundreds send them all to prison for years…5 years would be a good start point. ALL of them good and bad…if they were in the group imprison them. When the parents and thug friends start rioting, burning and killing in reaction declare martial law and shoot them in mass. If civil war results so be it..it will happen later anyway.

It always seems strange to me that we are allowed to call them teens or youth , but we’re not allowed to call them black youth.
Some descriptions are permissible , but others are verboten.
I always wonder why it is BLM with their vast resources arent going into these shitholes and rail against the true threat to black lives…other black men. Vigilante posses to round up the violent offenders the police wont…. Advocating for the nuclear family…. Pushing for them to get jobs and stop drug dealing…
Now im the one living in fantasy land ….

Leftist totalitarian types love to tell you what words you should and shouldn’t use. And they particularly hate words like “mayhem” that accurately describe wha is occurring in Chicago. Lefty dictators cringe at the truth.

The alerts will have the same effect as yelling “Party!” to all those who want to cause mayhem.
The Too Little, Too Late crowd is in full control in Chicago and at Bud Lignt.
It should be alerts that parents have failed miserably.
Your proposal is good, but you fell down on your last two sentences: “Nothing will happen. Nothing will change.”
There IS change, but it’s not the change we need or want. We are in the midst of Total Civilizational Collapse. Throughout history, societies have been blind to it while it is happening. We are no different. People think we are different, that the American Colossus will continue unabated no matter how much our enemies assault us and grind us down. No, we are going down with nary a shot fired.
Looking for the Bee publication. Are these people that stupid? How about policing in sufficient numbers to prevent this mess.
It wasn’t a ‘teen takeover’ it was an old fashioned riot... Period.
Perhaps “Teens Of Color” would be acceptable.
