Heeere we goooo. Fingers toes and eyes crossed for a successful test flight of the 33-Raptor engine Superheavy booster and Starship first time into space. Both vehicles are planned to splash down...the booster in the Gulf of Mexico and Starship off of Hawaii.

I was surprised that it was that easy to see that those five engines weren’t lit.
It was a little shocking, but I was hoping it would still be successful.

Agreed. Some people here are just trying to push buttons. The truth though is that the SpaceX engineers are right now rubbing their hands together with glee at the thought of all that juicy telemetry. I speak from experience.

Cleared the tower
Flew through max Q
Separation needs work
All in all, a good day.

This just confirms that there is no point to anything. We need to give up on everything.

If you use a grading system, getting passed Max Q before blowing up is a C++.
Well done SpaceX!!

LOL! Not gonna happen, and you're NOT going to get me going today. In way too much pain, was hoping this would lift my spirits today...

I worked at Boeing for years on flight control software. Today I’m envious of the SpaceX engineers. They’re going to be busy crawling through tons of telemetry for a while.

I’m not giving you any grief. I was disappointed too, but they’ll get it right eventually.
We have the easy part- we just watch what they do. Musk and his people have to brainstorm and spend a lot of money to get it to succeed.
No different than Columbus or Marco Polo, in my eyes.

SpaceX's propaganda department holds enormous sway over both its cheering/smiling employees and obsequious cheerleaders. I don’t consider it ‘propaganda’ to view this test in light of SpaceX developments and achievements.
the first successful controlled landing of a first stage occurred on 22 December 2015, on the first flight of the Full Thrust version. Since then, Falcon 9 first-stage boosters have been landed and recovered 186 times out of 197 attempts
…
The active version, Falcon 9 Block 5, has flown 162 missions, all full successes.
In 2022 Falcon 9 set a new record of 60 launches (all successful) by the same launch vehicle type in a calendar year. The previous record was held by Soyuz-U, which had 47 launches (45 successful) in 1979.

Sorry you are in pain! But yeah I’m trying to get people going. LOL

Perhaps.
But it bears honorable mention that the Saturn V - to which they were both comparing and gaslighting supremacy - had a perfect launch record.
I’ve never seen anything like that display. It was rather insulting.
