Heeere we goooo. Fingers toes and eyes crossed for a successful test flight of the 33-Raptor engine Superheavy booster and Starship first time into space. Both vehicles are planned to splash down...the booster in the Gulf of Mexico and Starship off of Hawaii.

Effing nerve pain today ... flared up yesterday, continuing today. Dammit.
I don't understand how a rocket blowing up like that is considered a success? Maybe I've gotten complacent with all SpaceX's success? Will be interested to see the follow-up to this.

Actually, the bar for success was set very low. Just get off the ground, get up a little ways, then blow up.
Blow up REAL GOOD.

I’m reminded by this pathetic display of
“flatten the curve” and “safe & effective”
as I see this morning that the government has issued the first payments for jab injury.

it would have been amazing for this NOT TO explode on the first try.
SpaceX tests to failure.
Nasa would have exploded it as soon as it veered off course. But Elon probably told them to try a few barrel rolls, and see if stage separation still happened.
This is a TEST flight. They were not cheering because they were ordered too. You clearly have not done any engineering. Each test is exciting, and you learn more from failures than you would ever imagine.
I always tell my colleagues that you don’t get these moments of joy like this in every occupation.

But it bears honorable mention that the Saturn V - to which they were both comparing and gaslighting supremacy - had a perfect launch record.Um, no. Look up Apollo 1 and Apollo 23.
And while we're at it, lets remember Apollo 13.

You sound like someone who has never tried something hard, where failure is likely, and perseverance is required.
If the best among us were as meek as you come across, we’d never have managed to fly in the air, much less fly in outer space.
To: Lazamataz
Apollo 23 Wasn't aware of that. But you are factually in error on the other 2.

You failed to mention one little fact: SpaceX didn’t plan on recovering EITHER stage. Super Heavy (the booster) was going to hard crash into the Gulf of Mexico, and Starship was going to coast 2/3 of the way around the world and hard crash into the Pacific off of Hawaii.
Eventually, they’ll make it.

Apollo 1 blowed up real good.
Apollo 13 blowed up real good, and it was only duct tape that saved them.
Starship blowed up real good.

Agreed. The man is a modern day Franklin, Edison, Bell, Goddard, etc. -- combined. History will remember him well.

Says the guy here since April 2nd, 2023.
I'm having a little fun. I know this was a very successful flight in about a dozen ways. If you cannot handle me foolin' about a little, perhaps this is not the forum for you.
