I haven’t seen the program, but this type of stuff doesn’t bother me. Even if they claim its a documentary, its entertainment. I mean, come on. Its Netflix. There is nothing serious or scholarly about what they do. And when it comes to entertainment, it doesn’t bother me if they have a black actor playing a white role. Same with Netflix’s Charlotte series. I don’t car that they have a black actress as Queen Charlotte. None of this is about historical accuracy. Its about entertainment. No historical movie ever has been about accuracy. Ever single one of them imports modern ideas into the script. Think about something like Gladiator. I almost laughed out loud in the theater when the Marcus Aurelius character said he wanted Maximus to bring democracy back to Rome. You just have to roll with it and judge it on its entertainment value.
And the stupid supposition that Queen Charlotte ( King George III's wife ) was "black" is based on one badly done portrait, 100s of years old rumors that were meant to insult that king and his queen, and tenuously based on a many 100s of years old ancestress, without any proof.
