Did Russian Kinzhal Missile Take Out 'NATO Command Center' in Ukraine?
Newsweek.com ^ | 3/31/23 | Kulychev

Did a Rssian precision strike supposedly destroyed an underground "NATO command center" in Ukraine earlier this month, with "dozens" of Western officers and military personnel purportedly killed in the "Kinzhal" (or "Dagger) missile attack.

At least, that is the claim circulating on some social media channels, including those known for spreading pro-Kremlin talking points and Russian propaganda.

In some cases the claim was supported by a photo of the supposed strike site, showing large-scale devastation and a burned-down building.

you saw the odd incident in kiev today I assume.

simplest guess is that it was indeed a satellite. odd UKRO response saying the nasa satellite. it wasn’t. but someone lost a satellite today. no idea whose.

maybe we see more falling soon. isn’t this one of the signs of things about to get badder?

Nato/Americans have spent plenty of time in Ukraine over the years training Ukrainians, remember?

Ukraine does not have to be in NATO for other countries to want to help it, besides, we have an Embassy there, which means military.

The physics of the Kinzhal is outside of ordinary boundaries. The MOAB is not falling at 15000 mph....

I can think of a several of instances where Russian missiles hit western facilities/forces in Ukraine, but nothing recently.

The first instance was very early on when foreign fighters were rushing to Ukraine and a Russian missile took out a barracks full of them at a NATO training facility in western Ukraine.

The second instance was a missile attack that took out a building in Vinnystia Ukraine where there was meeting of western military contractors and some AFU leaders.

The third instance was a retaliation strike against the British "advisors" that helped the Ukies carry out some operation (maybe the Kerch bridge bombing) which knocked out their command center.

Then of course there was Azovstal where a number of western special forces were killed, including some allegedly by Azov because they wanted to surrender.

Neither is the Kinzhal on both points. The Kinzhal is as fast as every other ballistic missile, only when they are fast. That's in the upper atmosphere, at the edge of space. Once it runs out of fuel and reenters denser air, it slows and has a terminal velocity just like all other ballistic missiles.

The other problem is air resistance increases faster than speed. For horizontal flying, lower altitude hyper sonic weapons, once they run out of fuel, they are going to slow down much faster than other weapons. Marketing hype is not physics, and physics always beats marketing.

Kinzhal's impact weight after running out of fuel is 2,000 lbs with a 500 lb warhead. The MOAB is a bomb, not a missile. It's impact weight is 21,600 lbs with 18,600 lbs explosive filler. There is no way the Kinzhal with 1/10 the impact weight causes damage over twice as deep as a MOAB.

“The physics of the Kinzhal is outside of ordinary boundaries. The MOAB is not falling at 15000 mph....”

A 4-5 ton Kinzhal missile hitting the ground at only Mach 1, would make an enormous and unmistakable blast, even without any explosives. No hiding that.

The blast it would make at Mach 3, 4, or 5, would seem like it was nuclear. It would be instantly remarkable to any witness.

These Kinzhal missiles are not meeting the hype, imo. Even at one ton impact weight, if they impacted at high mach speeds, their impacts would create very large booms.

But they don’t.

Their impacts are those of ordinary cruise missiles.

You are one of the most hostile and constant and emotional posters on the Russian invasion threads.

shhhhhhhh..... the Russians are LOSING!!!!

This HAS to be fake news.

As a little experiment on how far the propaganda and war on information is.... do this.

TRY TO FIND ONE WRITTEN STORY OR VIDEO OF RUSSIAN TROOPS WINNING OR KILLING UKRAINIAN that doesn’t push the narrative of Putin is Hitler, children murdered, Russia is actually surrendering and falling back.

Find ONE on any search engine and you’ll see how about 100% of general public is funneled into the information concentration camps. Without info.... no informed decision... the persons that control the free flow of ideas (even if abhorrent) is the ruler and in that manner... science is “settled”..or “everybody realizes that..” or “you have no basis in fact but only conspiracy theories and fear”...

Russia is going to “win” and like I said in the beginning of this blood bath.

The Ukraine is going to end up like Korea/Germany..split in two. with a line all along the east from Transnistria (including Odessa) to Mykoliev to Zaborizhia to (maybe Dnipro) over to Kharkiv.

No big formal thing but just an ongoing stalemate with “Russia losing” but Ukraine split in two....

oh and the best part is that they STILL have to pay back all those BILLIONS OF DOLLARS of aid we’ve sent them. They may not have to pay the “vig” but they’re still on the hook for the “number”. Just like Great Britain... that finally paid off it’s WW2 debt in 2020.

What a joke. Ukraine is looking at 30-40% of it’s population displaced, tens or hundreds of thousands of dead or maimed men.... and they still are on the hook for the money.

The bankers and US Treasury and the corporations are just loving what they’re going to do with whatever assets the Ukrainians might be able to scrounge.

You know how you can tell the Russians are “winning”. Because the Ukraine, Turkey AND RUSSIA, had to agree to allow wheat to be shipped out of the Black Sea. The evil, losing, stupid, idiotic Russians had to sign off on the truce.

This will be over by winter. You know, when Germany, Poland, the Baltics and the rest of NATO want to keep from freezing to death and all the windmills and solar panels that China makes aren’t keeping up with demand.

...and that silly little pipeline that “somebody” destroyed won’t be bringing Natural gas or oil to Europe.

My guess would be that the Kinzhal does not run out of fuel prior to impact.

You have facts that no American/NATO personnel are legally entitled to be in Ukraine?

it depends on what the meaning of "be in" means.

Somebody has to train the Ukes on the complex armaments we are sending them. They also have to be trained in comms in order to coordinate surface to air and surface to surface weapon systems in conjunction with logistics and mobile light and heavy infantry.

It's not just picking up a radio and saying.. "hey, blow that thingy over the river"...or "hey do you guys see those things falling out of the sky?... would you stop them please.

Our country has a history of not "being there" or "not being in" a country. My pop back in the late 50s and early 60's did TDY (temporary duty assignments) in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.....spoke Spanish, liked the jungle and hated communists.... if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life.

But the fact that even when he went to train in Singapore with the Brits our country wasn't really "there" there. He was just advising and training. Kind of like a vacation.... with camping... and weapons. If he was killed, it would have been a training "accident" as he explained it to me 40 years after the fact. But if you look at his "record". He only served in Lebanon, Korea, doesn't mention Laos or "Indochina"... but does include Vietnam.

There are a lot of "trip wires" that our government uses in order to justify "wars" or conflict resolution. It's what we "do".

First person to use snoops loses. Anyone using a lying communist leftist rag as their authority is just a loser. Personally I think it should be a banned offense like using Wikipedia as a source of truth.

It is early in the morning here but it looked like you made it clear your dad wasn’t a tripwire but then said he was.

I agree with your part about if he or an advisor is killed it doesn’t lead to war, it is treated as an advisor being killed.

my dad was just a “tool” that our government used to enforce our foreign policy. He loved our country, but made it clear that men have to do brutal things in combat/war that the public doesn’t know or want to know in order to protect our country or our allies.

He accepted his role and most of my extended family has or is serving in the armed forces. (8 uncles and a bunch of cousins) We’re like a little GI Bill factory. My grandfather made all of his sons join after they graduated from high school. No exceptions. He said, “if you’re not willing to bleed for this country, they’ll never respect you.”

My point was that “we” the United States government can say we don’t have men in theater, when in fact we do.

Like we do in Iran, Mid-east, Afghanistan, Africa, Asia and South America. So this idea that “well the US says we don’t have men in Ukraine means we don’t, is naive.”

I don’t want a single American service member harmed and there is literally not one fake democracy worth their life.

As long as everyone realizes that men and women in the armed forces may be placed in harms way... you best know why you or your family member may have to pay the “blood tax”.

Ballistic missiles burn all their fuel before apogee. The Kinzhal uses a solid propellant rocket motor, not a warp drive.
