Definitely. Plus, who calls 18 and 19 year olds “children”? Ridiculous.
People who cannot define what a “woman” is, cannot define what a “child” is, either.
Words have meanings, that up until fairly recently, there was little question about any ambiguity of that meaning. But destroying language, introducing a baffling new set of “pronouns”, and being harshly combative when the wrong “pronoun” is used, or anything about “gender” is challenged, is just picking a cause for fight where none none existed before.
The same with the definition regarding the age of the “child”. in some interpretations, this may include an offspring still living in parents’ basement, up to the age of 26, clearly a distortion of what is meant by “child”.
Many more than at all necessary are retreating into the cozy comfort of “child” when the real problem is failure to launch. There is a fine art to determining the point at which a “launch” should take place, and not enough parents pay attention to the technique.
Sometimes the guidance is not at all clear.
Deep within a forest, a little turtle began to climb a tree. After hours of effort, he reached the top, jumped into the air waving his front legs, and crashed to the ground.
After recovering, he slowly climbed the tree again, jumped, and fell to the ground. The turtle tried again and again while a couple of birds sitting on a branch watched his sad efforts.
Finally, the female bird turned to her mate. “Dear,” she chirped, “I think it’s time to tell him he’s adopted.”
Someone who can be in a shelter in the mountains of Afghanistan with a sniper rifle is, probably, not a child.
18/19 year-olds are legal adults. Really? They don’t know much of anything. One at that age who commits murder is a ‘teenager’ in the MSM’s eyes. Their naiveté gets taken advantage of in business-too easily led.
My idea: Make adulthood start at 20. That means no voting. The only exceptions are those teenagers serving their country in the military. Their ultimate(potential) sacrifice makes them responsible adults.
I might even include those few that get married-all those responsibilities.
The fact is life is like baking bread in the oven. The time is up but the bread is not fully baked.
And the politically incorrect fact, is that a big number of “teenagers” involved in so called gun violence, are in criminal gangs. They gloss over the criminal behavior and talk of them as if they are school age children.
