Mr. Crump, this country is vast in size -- it isn't a small island in the Pacific somewhere, so asking such a question will have an answer.
A similar incident happened on Long Island in NY some 10 or 15 years ago. White kid accosted black homeowner, black homeowner shoots and kills white kid, black homeowner found not guilty, no outrage except maybe from the white kid's family.

In KCMO 50% of murder suspects are black, so an unknown black kid at your door at 10:0PM is likely to be a bad thing.

It seems to me the old man way over reacted and injured a kid that was likely not a threat. Hopefully there is video to show what really happened. It's a shame that the race haters and the media ghouls are making this into a racial issue, but it is to be expected. They are as much of a problem as the violent criminals themselves, maybe even more. They always whip up a frenzy in these kinds of cases while sweeping black crime under the rug. Seems to me this case is more about a vulnerable old man in fear brought about by living in a rapidly decaying society. That doesn't excuse his behavior, but it gives us, as a nation, a starting point if we really want to correct the deeper problems that lead to these kinds of incidents.
It doesn’t. But the media and their minions will twist it to try to make apply. I believe that there is more to this story than meets the eye. But from this point forward, the old man is screwed. No matter what he did or did not do.

I haven’t seen anything about a no-trespassing sign. I’m also not sure how much water your view holds. Legally speaking, of course.
Same Thing happened to me about 20 years ago only with Yahoo maps.
I Watched a car drive between my barns and down the 2 track heading over the hill to my North fence.

In the first sentence, we know that the homeowner is White, the kid is black and there is, supposedly, a"racial component" to the story.
We only see a photo of Yarl, in a hospital bed, eyes closed, head wrapped in bandages, giving the impression that he's clinging to life.
In fact, he's already home.
I'm guessing a graze wound that didn't penetrate the skull, but we have to keep the narrative alive.
The most common form of home invasion is for the perp to ring the bell and when the door is opened, to push their way in, especially, with elderly.
The whole "wrong house" narrative is going to take a lot more evidence for me to believe.

I do wonder if delivery people — after they personally experience the “system” getting things wrong — ever get the idea to look where they are going.

Yes, I would be alarmed if an unknown black youth rang my door bell at 10 PM too. Wonder if there has been any crime in the neighborhood. Have to hand to the old guy. He was ready to go.

Yes. In my case, my evil GPS told me to turn onto a two-lane gravel road. So I did, thinking it was some sort of detour. Then those two lanes turned into one lane.
I should have turned back at that moment. And I would have, if my girlfriend had been with me. She would have insisted. But when alone I’m a typical stupid guy. So I pressed on into the forest. After about 45 minutes I came upon a paved two-lane road.
Anything could have happened in those 45 minutes. A flat tire, run off the road by idiot kids, attacked by Bigfoot, etc.
It would make for a good movie.

This is pretty much how I see it, too.
But, I can't quite figure out why the old man was so quick to start shooting. The narrative coming out is going to say that it's because the kid was black, and that might or might not be true. He could have just been a jittery old man who saw a stranger and freaked out.
Without actually being in that position myself, I like to think I would pause to ask the kid what the heck he was doing trying to get into my house before I actually fired at him, but that's from the safety of my keyboard.
