Why San Francisco is in the grip of an apocalyptic DEATH LOOP: A boom in working from home has trashed the local economy, while drugs and homelessness spiral thanks to soft-touch policing.
Daily Mail ^ | 4/17/2023 | TOM LEONARD

San Francisco is falling into what economists call an 'urban doom loop', essentially a vicious circle of interconnected trends and forces that send cities spiralling into economic and social ruin.

"Although the trend of 'remote working' is the root cause of the city's troubles..."

I strongly disagree with this statement: lefty policies such that allow mentally-ill homeless and drug addicts to take over the streets is the root cause of the city's policies.

San Francisco's elected officials think tech workers working from home and fleeing the city are the ones destroying it:

While they ignore their own city streets that look like this:

They have no idea that vilifying and chasing off your tax base - while protecting mentally ill and drug-addled homeless on the streets - has consequences.

It’s not complex. Leftists don’t have the character to run a city, have nice things. They are also evil.

Leftist politics drove the cost of living sky high.

At the same time, Leftist politics made the quality of life awful.

Shock Shock, anybody who can avoid both does exactly that.

Work From Home is eventually coming for all big cities but New York and San Francisco as two of the most expensive with the lowest quality of life for the inhabitants are going to get hit first. Its going to devastate both.

when 900sf single-family homes stop selling for seven-figure prices, I'll believe San Francisco has truly fallen.

I disagree. When people aren’t there to experience the ramifications of their ideological decisions, support, and interactions , then there is no governor on the mechanism.

That is one thing “work from home” does.

Don’t worry. When The Crash comes it will come hard and it will come very, very fast.

It seems like Chicago is next. I suspect this Summer, the downtown loop will be a mess.

Well, when you have crazies and crime everywhere, along with the ability to work from home, guest what people do. Shocker.

Of course, the left will never concede that their policies destroy.

I hear politicians and pundits lamenting the doom of businesses and likely whole cities due to Working From Home.

What I don’t hear them talking about are the benefits of it.

From the perspective of a former commuter, I don’t have to waste an hour and a half (at least) of my day in stressful rush hour traffic. I don’t have to pay to park, pay for doggie day care, pay for gas, pay to grab lunch or something to drink throughout the day. It saves me time, stress and a significant amount of money. Its absolutely wonderful.

Also, roads are far less clogged with traffic and of course there are far fewer emissions from all those cars that are no longer on the road. Gaia must be pleased.....or is Gaia only pleased when our sacrifices to her cause us great pain? How come I’m not hearing about how wonderful this is from all the Gaia worshipers?

What do you mean “this summer”? Didn’t you notice what “teens” did in Chicago just this past weekend?

https://nypost.com/2023/04/16/2-teens-shot-as-rowdy-mob-clashes-with-chicago-cops-for-second-night/

As I tell all real Americans in Ill-noize.......GET OUT. GET OUT NOW. Sell your house, move your business. If you can’t move the business, sell it too. You don’t want to be stuck there when the music stops - and its stopping soon. Look no further than Detroit to see what awaits those trapped in Shitcago.

It seems like Chicago is next. I suspect this Summer, the downtown loop will be a mess.

From lefty NBC

"The Loop sits in an area that has seen a rash of violent crime in recent months, including fatal shootings, violent armed robberies and car jackings.

Vacancy is now more than 26% in Chicago's loop and on the rise in the Michigan Avenue Corridor."

Yet the mayor says that those who are doing this are "not to be condemned."

I'm sure any businesses that are left are comforted by this and will re-think relocating elsewhere.

No worries: The mayor will ask the feds for money - a very large amount - after the last of his tax base has fled.

The fed money will then disappear and no one will be held to account. Rinse and repeat.

My son said the same thing - it allowed him to move to a much less expensive area and save the money he was spending on rent (buying was out of the question even though he has a good salary) - and not spend all the $$ on gas and hours commuting on LA’s congested freeways.

The company sold the building so for him WFH is permanent - and he couldn’t be happier. Says he eats at home more often - but just the stress of not having to commute has been the best part. Financially, this has put him ahead by years as he’s able to save and invest a lot more.

Druggies, criminals, sickos, and parasites need to be segregated from the producers. Let them stay in the big cities, and everyone else stays and works in the new normal areas.
