I agree, they voted for it. However, we should expect American cities to ofter a modicum of safety for visitors. My daughter and her husband flew into Chicago Saturday for depositions this week. They had no choice but to attend in person as the attorneys want to view body language, demeanor, or some such ridiculousness. They are staying less than a mile from this madness. It’s snowing there this morning, so maybe some of the yoots will stay in, but I’ve advised her to practice extreme situational awareness.
Here’s a thought. Mention the events of Saturday night to the attorneys involved and demand personal security paid for by whomever compelled this deposition. Copy the judge.
Be polite and repeat how willing you are to cooperate but not at the risk of their lives. This is a reasonable position.
Then sit back and watch the fun.

Most Chicagoians voted for it. The problem is that the sane Chicagoians will continue to flee, increasingly leaving the inmates to run the asylum.
The trillions of $$ invested in these cities over decades will be lost as they increasingly come to resemble Detroit.
