Qualified immunity is a little overblown by BLM and is not the blanket they pretended it was. Anyway, New Mexico does not have qualified immunity. I think they were one of the first two states to completely eliminate it. And even when they did, this would have been prosecuted, and the city was/is on the hook for a massive civil lawsuit.
I’m sure that will be a great consolation the their murdered victim and family. Cops will get a slap on the wrist taxpayers will foot the civil suit bill.
