He also ripped DeSantis for his “defeaning silence” regarding “the bailout of Silicon Valley Bank depositors,” alleging he was quiet on the matter because “many of his big donors were themselves the beneficiary of that bailout.”
“Ron DeSantis is a puppet for the donor class in the Republican Party. He is a puppet for the Republican establishment,” he said. “He’s really a, I would say the usual expression goes as a ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing,’ He’s a sheep in wolf’s clothing.”
He then coined the nickname “Small Stick Ron DeSantis” while invoking a famous quote from 26th President Teddy Roosevelt.
“Teddy Roosevelt said, ‘Speak softly and carry a big stick.’ Ron DeSantis speaks loudly, but he carries a small stick,” Ramaswamy said. “‘Small Stick Ron DeSantis,’ I think that’s actually a summary of the uncourageous attitude he brings to the table.”
Vivek Ramaswamy is playing the game smart. He sees no need to attack Trump, especially when Trump has earned real sympathy for an unjust indictment.
He makes no enemies (except hard-core DeSantis supporters, a depreciating asset he wasn’t going to get anyway), and positions himself as the next generation MAGA.
-Has DeSantis announced that he’s running for President?
If not, why would he need to comment on anything not specific to Florida?
I like Ramaswamy but his internet persona appears to have seized control of his brain.
He does deserve a look for sure :)
Um, should someone named Vivek be calling anyone “Small Stick”?
As much as I am in agreement with vivek’s campaign promises (and we know how that game goes), he’s getting close to crossing a line by his mockery of another republican. He’s best served to avoid the Trump MO and stick to positive stuff about his plans and what conservatives stand for.
Same boorish response when I raise that question. If he isn’t it makes Trump look like a fool.
DeSantis isn’t running in ‘24.
“why would he need to comment on anything not specific to Florida?”
Well, a former President being the subject of a political persecution is of interest to every single American, I’d say.
Trying out for Trump’s VP? Why doesn’t he address first the fact that he’s not a natural born citizen. He is simply an Indian anchor baby.
What, did we miss his announcement somewhere?
> he’s getting close to crossing a line by his mockery of another republican <
Slamming fellow Republicans well before primary season is helpful to the Democrats. We should not be doing things that are helpful to the Democrats.
And Reagan had a point with his 11th commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of thy fellow Republican.”
But here’s the thing. Trump’s indictment is so outrageous - and so off the charts - that any Republican who doesn’t loudly protest deserves scorn. And deserves that scorn right now.
no.
no long names like its from menu a or menu b to represent Americca.
yup, i said itt, and will say it again!
DeSantis condemned the indictment.
Are we saying that DeSantis was not forceful enough in his condemnation of the indictment?
I think Vivek’s running for Vice President but I think Trump or DeSantis will pick a woman: Kari Lake, Kristi Noem, probably not Nikki Haley.
Until he actually announces, he is not running. It is unfair and malicious to keep suggesting otherwise. When and if he’s ready to announce, he will. Until then, he is simply the governor of Florida, like many others, traveling around the US as well as very successfully running his state.
I don’t care enough to have an opinion about DeSantis, let alone lie about it.
I do have an opinion about Trump, since IMO he allowed the movement that supported him (he was never the essential leader of it, but just a figurehead) to be attacked and dismantled, and he has made the remnant of that movement about him, and loyalty to him, personally.
I’ll never forgive this, and yes, Trump is partially responsible for it. I was deeply involved and saw it up close. The movement that arose in 2014-2016 was the last hope to rescue the country, and it failed miserably. I’d rather accelerate what’s coming next than stand in the way.
Wonder if DeSantis is still taking calls and consulting with Karl Rove and the Bush cabal. 2023 has not been kind to the DeSantis, BudLight or Soros brands.
The deeper story is that India is a rising nation a power player and a guy with Indian ancestry well talk about foreign influence over US elections?
