Green Beret is a nickname, the Green Beret’s official name is “Special Forces”.
Check your source again.
There are other Special Forces than the Green Berets. You are missing the trees for the forest with your pedantism.
Give it up, Ansel. All the services have special forces: there’s Marine Recon, the Air Force PJ’s, etc. They all fall under SOCOM. As a retired Navy Intelligence Officer, I can tell you definitively that the Navy has five types of Special Forces: rescue swimmer, EOD tech, diver, SEAL, and combat craft crewman (Special Boat Teams.) The Green Berets may be referred to as Special Forces in the Army, but they don’t own the word.The terms Special Forces and Special Operations are used interchangeably in the Navy.
