Correct. Being fools, by embracing DEI, the board of directors and senior management willed the results of brand damage, sales losses, and stock value decline without even realizing it. Yet my guess is that they are also trying to dump the marketing VP with a fat buy out and an NDA to prevent her from tattling about how she acted with full approval from her bosses.
The "no one knew" line in the article is a lie constructed to limit the damage to the ranks of senior executives who in fact did know. If the marketing VP has a good lawyer, she will walk away with a deal that will let her retire and live in luxury as the price of her silence.
