The 50% that pay no income taxes and live off of welfare/entitlements are waiting for an increase in payments to cover inflation.
I paid taxes from age 16 to age 65.
I paid double Social Security-—15.3% from 1980 to 2004 because I was SELF-EMPLOYED.
I live on MY Social Security. I earned it-—I paid into it.
YOU wish to call it an “entitlement”-—SO BE IT.
BUT I had NO say in those funds being deducted from every paycheck I ever had until 1980. After that-—I paid it directly with my income tax returns.
Self=employment also included:
DOUBLE COST OF SOC SEC/MEDICARE====15.3% Not 7.65%
NO PAID VACATIONS
NO PAID HOLIDAYS
NO PAID SICK DAYS
NO PENSION
NO BACK UP WHEN I WAS SICK & WORK HAD TO BE DONE
IT DID INCLUDE MANY WEEKS OF 75 PLUS HOURS.
WHEN YOU ARE SELF-EMPLOYED for OVER 25 years-—get back to me
