Taiwan has had more than seventy years to prepare for an invasion. If they are not ready now, then never will be. Second, they have had seventy years to create their own atomic weaponry. If the mainland could do it, if Pakistan could do it, and if Israel could do it and never admit it, and if Iran will do it, what makes Beijing figure that Taiwan is helpless?
Taiwan has missiles that can hit most of China.
It’s essentially the same as Russia attacking Ukraine. Communist bully going after the survivors of the legitimate government they over threw decades ago. It’s an existential identity issue. Very dangerous. I believe the US is down playing and staying out of it due to the likelyhood of Taiwan’s undeclared nukes.
