I need it broken down by demographics
My father, in declining health, died by self inflicted gunshot wound at age 83.
I don’t know. I’m going to read through article and comments to learn more. I’m pro-2a, so I’m just curious.
Just remember the days when journalists, historians, media spokespeople, government officials, librarians, teachers, professors and most clergy were bound by a code of standard and ethics are gone for a generation. I assume what I read is spun to create an impression desired or an outright lie absolutely fabricated.
How many were shot at while in the military?
Absolute bull$hit that 20% of the population have a family member who was killed by a handgun.
Another study that will be debunked like the bogus race studies that were shown to be complete fraudulent and made headlines this week. They were blasted across headlines when released and cited constantly.. but do you think the fact they were shown to be crap will get wide play ? Of course not, and it won’t matter they served the purpose and provided cover and talking points for years.
45k gun deaths per year, with the majority being suicides... nation of 330 Million people. That’s 0.013% of the population annual dies from a gunshot, and the vast majority are suicides. So you get rid of those and it’s less than 0.0065% of the population are killed by guns every year, that are not suicides.
Yet.. 20% of US families have a member who was killed by a gun? Not a chance in hell.
Another claim that doesn’t pass the smell test.
Even over 70 years it doesn’t add up.
The current death rate by gun is 0.013% per year... You would need close to 100 years worth of deaths to reach 1% of the population.
Another study that exists to create headlines and citable talking points, but will be found to be crap later... just like the studies debunked this week claiming racism behind things... those studies made headlines when they came out and cited in policy and other discussion for years, but do you think the news will remotely cover they fact they are debunked? Nope... they will still get cited as “proof” your decades.

The last time any of my close to 30,000 ancestors died from being shot was during the civil war.
My wife’s clan are basically the same. Zero ancestors killed by gun except during the civil war.
Nor I. It is extremely high in the black community. And spreading. Memphis has armed 12 and up. So you know they didn’t get them legally.
I hate having to go into Shelby Co. Gov. Lee just signed a couple of Red Flag laws, not as bad as blue states.

My 16 yr old was murdered by a Sociopath with a 2 ft section of 4x4. Plea Bargained from M1 to M2, 20 yrs, served 8.5 yrs. Turned loose. 6 freaking parole hearings.
My BFF 8 yr old was Raped, strangled unconcious, and then drowned. Killer is still on TN DR, he had 2 trials, DNA proof, 1st trial judge read outdated jury instructions, Took 30 yrs of appeals on it, 2nd trial is now using the same appeals. He was supposed to have gone to the Fed Courts when Covid lockdowns hit. That is in Ohio.
Not sure how far down the family tree they consider when discussing “a relative”.
Just Immediate familY?
Do they count Military Service?
Police?
Uncles and Aunts and 1st-2nd-3rd cousins?
How many generations back?
If you reach out far enough, sure, I have had relatives killed with guns. Our bunch got here nearly 400 years ago, so it was bound to happen.
