Not just Pense, Trump has had a lot of disloyals working for him in the WH. In fact, it’s easier to count those who stuck by him than it would to count those who turned on him.
The real question is, who hired those people?
“The real question is, who hired those people?”
In the early days, when Trump was scrambling to staff the executive branch, it was reported Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka were highly involved in advising Trump on hiring decisions. Mike Pence as well.
While campaigning in 2016 Trump frequently bragged about all of the great business people he knew would staff his administration and come with him to Washington to drain the swamp. Either candidate Trump was making noise or those he invited turned him down. Wilbur Ross, Trump’s Secretary of Commerce, is the only Trump cabinet head who had a strong business relationship with Trump before the election.
The most prominent business executive Trump hired for his administration was Rex Tillerson, Exxon CEO, for Secretary of State. Tillerson was recommended to the administration by George Bush’s Secretary Condoleeza Rice in November 2016, after Trump was elected. Trump did not know Tillerson until he interviewed Tillerson for the job. Tillerson was fired by Trump after only 423 days in office. Reports at the time indicated Tillerson learned he had been fired by reading a Trump tweet announcing he was out. Tillerson was replaced by CIA director, and Washington insider, Mike Pompeo.
