“black students realizing how far behind they are”
Interesting lil tidbit. Both Thomas Sowell & the late Walter Williams stated in several of their books that black children were better educated prior to the Brown v Board of Education decision. Damn close or even superior to many white students.
I believe that; prior to the “Great Society” cash-for-kids program that removed fathers from black homes, they understood (even in segregated schools) that education was the only way out of a sharecropper’s life. Even poor, uneducated black parents pushed their children to prepare themselves for a better livelihood doing something else.
I’m sure that black instructors back then were also better trained\educated & motivated.
