china goal would seem obvious - encourage europe to split from being US crate-trained vassals. the US has gotten the EU quite nicely triangulated in terms of energy security at this point.
i remain convinced that germany will look to get back into an energy relationship with russia at some point if we avoid wwiii. the US will do everything possible to make this impossible.
