Exactly. And Russia’s claims have constantly evolved to such in the gullible. So first Ukraine never should have been given independence. Next Nazis. Then biolabs. Then Soros. Then gays (one of my favorites as an all time made up total propaganda fabrication repeated constantly here).

They actuallly think Putin read that Ukraine was about to legalize gay marriage so he committed his entire army to over one year of a devastating disastrous war.

1. Geostrategic - Crimea controls the Black Sea and Russia’s underbelly.
2. Dominion over Russia’s historical sphere of influence. This requires no NATO in Ukraine as Ukraine would then be part of Russia’s existential enemy.
3. Mineral and agricultural resources, which Russia sells to great benefit.
Those are REAL interests and the reason Russia is willing to do whatever it takes to secure Ukraine to their liking.
