Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has chosen a finance director for his prospective presidential campaign, two sources close to DeSantis said on Thursday.

Lauren Lofstrom, who served as finance director for Texas Senator Ted Cruz during his 2016 presidential campaign, is joining DeSantis' political operation and has begun meeting with the governor's allies to discuss fundraising strategies, said the sources who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Others who have joined DeSantis' political operation include Jason Johnson, who served as Cruz's chief strategist in 2016, the sources said.

so only 51% were large contributions...so almost 49% of the funds were from individual donations under $200...

And Trump kicked in a whopping $8k himself. LOL!

Nonetheless, he didn't turn away those big money donors.

It seems to be generally understood that law doesn’t apply to candidates for federal office, in particular President. But the Florida legislature is currently amending the law to make that entirely clear.

“ Exceptions to the resign-to-run law:
o Political party offices; or
o Persons serving without salary on an appointed board or authority.
o Candidates for federal office;
o Persons seeking the office of President or Vice President. (ss. 99.012(3)(a), (6), and (7),F.S.)”

Where am I going to go? Once the Trump era is over, so will my involvement with the corrupt Republicrats. I’m so done with their decades long good cop, bad cop, cock’n bull con job sham.

Ya see that southern border? It’s living proof these two parties have hoodwinked tens of millions over 50 years, and they never had any intention whatsoever of securing our borders.

The cartels are worth many billions and they pay a lot of money to keep them wide open...You can thank these two corrupt parties...It’s an epic sham...

We got lies and lip service from these two entrenched parties....When Trump is gone, so am I.☺

They didn’t help Cruz

Ted Cruz was re-elected during a blue wave election.

Remember Beto? The Dems dumped millions into his campaign hoping to unseat Cruz. And in a blue-wave election, they failed.

Many on Cruz's team later headed over to Virginia and helped Glenn Youngkin flip that state red as well.

These are the people DeSantis is hiring. Proven winners.

Why so late to the party? Kim Reynolds of Iowa did that at least a couple of years ago. She also was ahead of Florida in getting kids back in school after Covid. Maybe she should be running instead of Ronny. But Ronny is the latest Rove, Bushie, poster boy.

A real conservative who’s spent his life in ivy league universities, a lawyer in the military, and whammo, straight into professional politics.

This guy can’t even relate to what’s left of the middle class...Same old thing, over and over and over....

If that happens, and the cheating is eliminated, Trump will win.

when you have TDS you can’t see it

Brilliant and true, because it's based on an inflated ego. The person actually believes he is smarter than Trump and all the Trump supporters.

Do you think Trump has ever set foot inside a Walmart?

You can bet DeSantis has.

WTF does Trump know about the middle class?

A real conservative who’s spent his life in ivy league universities, a lawyer in the military, and whammo, straight into professional politics.

And DeSantis grew up in a middle-class Florida household, earned himself his own way into college, and served his country as a JAG officer in the U.S. Navy, particularly in Fallujah during the bloodiest year in Iraq.

I know exactly what Ron DeSantis' paycheck during this time looked like because I served with guys just like him.

Spoiler alert: It wasn't much.

I knew families just like Ron and Casey DeSantis. I worked right alongside them. My wife and I lived in the same Navy housing units as they did. We shopped at the same Walmarts.

We know more about the middle class than the son of multi-millionaire developer Fred Trump ever will.

DeSantis does not have much real life experience. Like the rest of the lawyers turned professional politicians, he certainly can’t relate to people down on the ground in private sector America. The man has no real life experience here.

That’s what’s always amazed me. The 9-5 work a day private sector American keeps voting for lawyer career politicians who came from ivy league universities straight into government, for a career.

We need leaders, not lawyers. We have enough of those to choke the entire country off. And here we are.

“ Anyone that has karl rove jeb bush the bushes and any other neocons backing him should be cause for concern.”

I jumped off the DeSantis bandwagon just because of this. We know what we will get from Trump, a great comeback. We have no idea what DeSantis will do. I don’t want another Jeff Sessions who will show their true colors when the leftist media starts to demonize them and then betray his party.

They only support DeSantis as a way to get to Trump, DeSantis can’t choose the folks who support him. And I suspect as soon as Trump is out of the picture, DeSantis’ “friends” will dump him.

Did Dukakis ever say anything that sensible? I’m amazed.

That famous saying is most often attributed to Plutarch. Hamilton, Jefferson, and Truman were all big Plutarch fans.
“They just don’t come any better than old Plutarch,” President Harry Truman told biographer Merle Miller after he’d left office. “He knew more about politics than all the other writers I’ve read put together.

In this context the saying means that Trump’s campaign is very nasty, so Trump’s supporters follow his lead. In my opinion it won’t work, but time will tell.
