I agree, but it's not lack of intelligence. It's ignorance, incuriousness, and cognitive laziness. People don't want to think and consider things in depth. That's too much work. They're more interested in eating and being entertained by some mind-numbing social media or other digital garbage - or the fake news. Bread and circuses.
