Trump Campaign Urging DeSantis Donors to Switch Lanes
Breitbart ^ | 6 Apr 2023 | HANNAH BLEAU

The Trump campaign is urging Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s donors to switch lanes concerning whom they are backing in the 2024 Republican primary race, pointing to a memo featuring polling from John McLaughlin, which concludes that former President Donald Trump is gaining “strong majority support from Republican primary voters against any opponent” and leading President Joe Biden.

In other words, per the memo, Trump stands as the best shot of taking down Democrats in 2024.

The three-page memo, obtained by Politico, was reportedly sent to DeSantis donors and offers a peek into the state of the race.

It featured results of a survey of 1,000 likely general election voters conducted on behalf of Trump’s campaign and found Trump only growing in strength in the wake of his indictment at the hands of leftist Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

The memo shows Trump leading President Joe Biden in a head-to-head matchup — 47 percent to 43 percent. The memo notes that the figures remain “virtually unchanged” from the March survey. In other words, the indictment had no negative effect, as other surveys have also suggested.

The memo also featured a chart listing several recent polls from the likes of YouGov, Trafalgar, Yahoo News, Fox News, Reuters, and more. In every poll listed, Trump leads the hypothetical 2024 Republican primary field with double-digit support. More specifically, the latest Reuters poll showed Trump up 29 points over DeSantis and the governor dropping into the teens.

“Any reputable poll now shows Republican primary voters are appalled, angry and are unifying behind President Trump in his nomination,” the memo reads, explaining that voters and reported donations to the Trump campaign are “increasing exponentially.” Indeed, the Trump campaign saw $4 million in donations in the 24-hour period following the announcement of the indictment,

This is a paid poll for Trump’s campaign?

Now that the GOP is all in on being a center left party, what use it is? McConnell, McCarthy, and Trump can take their Biden-lite party and stuff it.

It’s numerous polls giving the same result. I just don’t see anyone beating Trump for several reasons, that punk in NY just added another one

Please explain which action DeSantis has taken that is left of center?

I’ll give you a headstart . Massive stimulus checks, a full endorsement of Anthony Fauci, and operation warp speed.

I see it as a little embarrassing to try to get the supporters of an unannounced potential rival to abandon him and come to you.

Also, if Trump is already hands down winning the nomination and everything is just a formality from here on, all he really needs to do is just bask in the joy of the done deal and enjoy watching everyone run to him.

Trump sounds desperate and mean imo. He’s also very old, not much younger than the senile Biden.

I donated twice to Trump in 2020, and it came up “WINRED”, which I believe is an RNC pot shared by the likes of McConnell and Tillis.

During PDJT’s speech the other night I texted the podium address hoping to donate, but once again saw WINRED.

Is there a way to donate directly?

You’re funny, Nick. You still don’t get it, or pretend not to. When, in recent memory, have the Republicans NOT been a center left party?

A Republican party that says all the right things but is too dignified to actually fight for those things, is a de facto center left party. Their inaction enables the left just as surely as the Democrats do.

Point to me, the golden age you’d like to return to. The Tea Party days when Cruz and Rubio gave great speeches yet didn’t have the guts to support building a substantial wall across our southern border or oppose birthright citizenship? The days under Boehner and Ryan, when no one thought to raise the issue of fair trade or stopping the Chinese from forcing our best companies to hand over their intellectual property before they’d be allowed to do business in Chinese.

The Republican party you long for hasn’t existed in 60 years, if not longer.

Well, it’s gotten worse. But GOP voters get fooled again and again. Buy the time they figured Bush out, then they thought Trump was the answer, even though he is reheated Bush with more LGBT and secularism.

Except that Bush and Trump differ drastically when it comes to foreign policy. And Trump placed three originalists to the Supreme Court, not backing down when the left started turning up the heat. Needless to say, Roe v Wade would not have been overturned if he had not done so.

Yeah, that was how it struck me - a tad desperate sounding.

I remember when Rush was still with us and there were a lot of radio competitors popping up (& most eventually flopping). He told them “Come on in, the water’s fine!”, he had (well-earned) confidence in himself and his ability to stay on top.

And Trump placed three originalists to the Supreme Court

That is one of the most laughable statements I have ever heard. If Bush had tried to put Kavanaugh and Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, conservatives rightly would have been screaming bloody murder.

Remember pre-Trump conservatives loved Scalia and absolutely hated Anthony Kennedy. (For good reason, he was rate left of center on his decisions overall) After Trump's mind ray, conservatives hated Scalia and loved Kennedy.

The fact is Kavanaugh and Gorsuch were Kennedy disciples, so they will shake out to the left of Kennedy. Remember, even Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Roe was wrongly decided. And Trump was mad about Hobbs.

The reality is the Supreme Court will probably never recover from Trump packing lefty anti-Constitution types on the Supreme Court. The people in the know on the left were elated by his picks.

Bush tried to pick Harriet Miers, which was a joke. Alito was nicknamed Scalito, because he was so much like Scalia. At the time conservatives loved it, because it was before they shifted from Scalia to Kennedy.

Roberts is a strange case. He was no Souter. He had a deep track record as a conservative. I don't know why he changed on major decisions. It's inexplicable. His record before the Supreme Court was impecable.

Trump also disagrees with off shoring our whole industrial and manufacturing capacity & capabilities to foreign nations.

Which makes him different than other Republicans.
