I strongly believe that until fusion works, nuclear is the answer. Fusion is nuclear, it has been about 20 years away for at least the last 50 years. Something about some pesky engineering challenges that keeps holding it back.

Even after fusion works you will need fission power plants.
Fusion requires tritium.
Tritium is made in fission reactors.
