The other day I called my cable company about a problem. I was stuck talking with some automated bot that kept giving me the same instructions. Eventually found a way to talk to a real person. But she wasn't much better.
When I get a voice bot, I go through my list: “Agent. Representative. Associate. Human. Support. Person.” One of those often (but not always) gets me to a person, usually “Fred” or “Bob” or “Karen” in the Philippines. You can always tell within 30 seconds if the person knows anything. I had a guy a couple days ago who kept pronouncing “virtual” as “vehicle” and that really threw me off because I called about my virtual credit card.
