During NORPAC 82 the US Navy made that abudnantly clear how difficult that is to the Russian navy and naval aviation. Then after finding it, there's sinking it. A carrier, its airwing of 80 to 100 aircraft, a dozen escorts, their helicopters, two attack submarines trying not to be seen, and allied navy forces will make that interesting and expensive for anyone who tries it.
