My wife is a full-time teacher of (predominantly Ukrainian) refugees. Part of her work week consists of teaching online lessons which she administers from home, in our living room. As a retiree, I thus have ample opportunity to "listen in" on the instruction.

In addition to this, we also socialize with families of Ukrainian refugees. We also have friends who have welcomed Ukrainian refugees into their homes. Although most of our relatives are Russians, living in Russia, we also maintain contact with numerous Ukrainians who are 1) still in Ukraine (i.e., never left); 2) have, in the meantime, returned to Ukraine; 3) have left Germany and sought refuge in other European (chiefly: Baltic) countries; 4) have married Germans and are hence remaining in Germany.

The economic cost of housing, clothing, providing medical care to, etc. the Ukrainian refugees amounts to a fraction of one percent of the German Federal budget.

Regards,

Sounds like the native Germans could use some of those funds.
