Isn't that the truth? They have a hierarchy of stupid appearances that they sequentially follow in their progression through radicalism:

1. Large, goofy glasses
2. Multiple piercings on the ears
3. Gross piercings on nose or lips
4. Even grosser piercings on eyebrows
5. Pink or green hair
6. Discreet tattoos
7. Brash, in-your-face tattoos on arms
8. "Sleeve" tattoos on arms
9. Neck, chest and facial tattoos
10. Plugs in ear lobes
11. GIANT plugs in ear lobes
12. Ridiculous haircuts - shaved sides, big chunks of hair grown long

For strident non-conformists, they sure do like conforming to what they think is expected of them.

Like every anti-conformity fad, eventually all the "non-conformists" end up looking the same as each other and believing the precisely same things.
