Interesting panel at a chapter meeting of Tennessee Stands in the Tri-Cities last night: locals heard from 'transplants' about WHY they moved to Tennessee, and what progressive trends they needed to watch for here. One man mentioned the oft-repeated belief that locals would often bitch about Californians moving to Tennessee, and that Tennesseans didn't need them stinking up the state. He had a very interesting response: 'We are NOT invaders; we are REINFORCEMENTS!'
Amen! My wife and I moved here from 'up north', and we are far more conservative than others locals in East Tennessee. There are OTHER 'Californian Tennesseeans' here at FR, and they should be welcomed with OPEN ARMS as allies.
