The pair of candidates spent the weekend trying to woo over undecided voters ahead of Tuesday’s election
The Windy City decided on its new mayor Tuesday after a tight race between two blues, with a progressive, Bernie Sanders-endorsed Democrat taking the keys to the Chicago mayor's office.
Progressive Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson defeated his moderate opponent, former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas, to take the Chicago mayor’s race, replacing outgoing Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who came in third before the runoff.
Vallas garnered the support of the Chicago police union and major business groups while Johnson got the backing of Chicago's teacher's union.

At least Paul Vallas openly stated that he was for law and order and would support the police. This guy Brandon Johnson is TO THE LEFT of even Lori Lightfoot. The voters of Chicago in essence tell us that they want the status quo and even that is not enough. They want to go further left.
Chicago is a lost cause.
Chicago - just bulldoze it.
It’s Chicago. Probably the most corrupt and crime ridden city in the country. The wealthy can afford to flee or live in one of the few safe suburbs while the rest suffer.
Valas stood no chance. He’s the wrong color.
My first concern would be ‘how many more police are going to run for the exits now?’ If I was an officer I’d have a hard time working in a city where the mayor is literally a declared enemy.

Who is we? If it’s white ppl, blame whites for Brandon winning. I was in Beverly 2 weeks ago, which is the most affluent neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago. It’s mostly white and there were Brandon signs on some of the lawns. And Chicago is 36% white, 28% black and 28% latino. Brandon successfully pulled enough white and latino voters to win. I’m not sure how racially motivated this particular election was. Paul Vallas, the white guy who lost, got his fair share of endorsements from white, black and latino pols.
Regardless the tough on crime candidate lost. After four years of Lightfoot I fear many companies will relocate out of the City. Which is very difficult if you think about it. The Chicago Loop is a very attractive place to do business as it’s so compact and has so many desirable residential units, fun things to do and nice places to eat within and in close proximity. And don’t forget Chicago is an airhub that makes it easy to get to just about anywhere in the country.
Actually Johnson was elected by Rich Liberal White Women from the Far North Lakefront Wards
Johnson won the South and West Sides but could not win without the Lakefront Liberals
OH, MT AND WV are all now solid Red. RedStates are getting Redder. NC now solid Red, as is OH.
Yeah, but now the Loop is full of Crime.
