There are only a few states that outlawed abortion. All Dobbs did was remove abortion’s federal protection. States can create whatever abortion legislation they want, depending on their constituents’ wishes. And the GOP as a whole wasn’t pushing Roe being overturned. That ruling was based on a more precise interpretation of Roe v Wade, which even RBG claimed was faulty.

You are absolutely right. Overturning Roe did not ban one abortion. It did turn it over to the states, however. I think tonight's election in Wisconsin demonstrates how difficult it is to navigate the issue politically.

Also, far from removing the abortion debate from the national stage, I think the Dobbs decision is going to ensure that abortion and the "Codify Roe" campaign will be an issue for the foreseeable future.
