I still don’t quite understand why he did not remain in FL after DeSantis said he would support no extradition. I don’t see any way he gets a fair trial; there is no justice there.

Probably because Trump (or his lawyers) know that DeSantis has no real legal means to resist extradition. He might say “no” at first, then he would get a court order from a federal judge, and the choice would be, either hand Trump over, or DeSantis gets arrested and Trump gets handed over anyway.
