Former President Donald Trump left his Mar-a-Lago home on Monday to fly to New York, the first step in a legal odyssey that will include his arrest and court appearance a day later.
His motorcade swept out of the resort gates shortly after midday for the 15-minute journey to the airport.
It will make Trump the first former U.S. president to face criminal charges when he is arraigned, fingerprinted and photographed at the downtown Manhattan courthouse.
In a Truth Social post on the eve of his departure he confirmed the arrangements, saying he will fly out at noon and stay at Trump Tower on Monday evening.
On Monday afternoon, his motorcade pulled up to his jet and the former president boarded alone, before campaign staff and lawyers followed him up the rear steps.
His lawyers have said he will enter a plea of not guilty and his legal team is preparing to add a constitutional expert amid fears that the judge in the case will impose a gag order.
The charges against Trump remain sealed, but it is believed they stem from an investigation into $130,000 hush money paid to adult movie star Stormy Daniels.
'I will be leaving Mar-a-Lago on Monday at 12 noon, heading to Trump Tower in New York,' the former president posted on Sunday night.
'On Tuesday morning I will be going to, believe it or not, the Courthouse. America was not supposed to be this way!'
Court officials say he is due to arraigned at 2:15pm on Tuesday.
He is then expected to return to his Mar-a-Lago home where he plans to make a speech in the evening.

RE: Pray for his safety and our nation.
May God protect Donald Trump, his family and his supporters.
Amen.
Sorry, I am not a saint. I have tolerated the Dems in my midst for a long time. They tilt their heads back, arrogantly laughing, in total agreement that they can do any harm they want to anyone with whom they disagree.
“Those who are kind to the cruel will in the end be cruel to the kind.” Talmud on Ecclesiastes.
Mayor....
Yes, he shows signs of delusions of adequacy.
This fat Alvin character will be one of the most despised ‘Americans’ in history by the time this is done playing out...the media couldn’t get any lower.
“...while sucking up perennial GOP back stabbers such as Graham and McConnell.”
Pure politics. Butter up the opposition, give them opportunity to save face.
He has certainly burned his bridges with McConnell.
Graham blows hot and cold. He certainly has more leverage on Graham now who will be up for election in 2026.
To paraphrase the Joker “decent people shouldn’t live there (NYC).”
RE: This made me cry.
And one of the imprecatory Psalms:
PSALM 94
O Lord, God of vengeance,
O God of vengeance, appear!
2 Arise, O Judge of the earth.
Give arrogant people what they deserve.
3 How long, O Lord, will wicked people triumph?
How long?
4 They ramble.
They speak arrogantly.
All troublemakers brag about themselves.
5 They crush your people, O Lord.
They make those who belong to you suffer.
6 They kill widows and foreigners, and they murder orphans.
7 They say, “The Lord doesn’t see it.
The God of Jacob doesn’t even pay attention to it.”
8 Pay attention, you stupid people!
When will you become wise, you fools?
9 God created ears.
Do you think he can’t hear?
He formed eyes.
Do you think he can’t see?
10 He disciplines nations.
Do you think he can’t punish?
He teaches people.
Do you think he doesn’t know anything?
11 The Lord knows that people’s thoughts are pointless.
12 O Lord, blessed is the person
whom you discipline and instruct from your teachings.
13 You give him peace and quiet from times of trouble
while a pit is dug to trap wicked people.
14 The Lord will never desert his people
or abandon those who belong to him.
15 The decisions of judges will again become fair,
and everyone whose motives are decent will pursue justice.
16 Who will stand up for me against evildoers?
Who will stand by my side against troublemakers?
17 If the Lord had not come to help me,
my soul would have quickly fallen silent in death.
18 When I said, “My feet are slipping,”
your mercy, O Lord, continued to hold me up.
19 When I worried about many things,
your assuring words soothed my soul.
20 Are wicked rulers who use the law to do unlawful things
able to be your partners?
21 They join forces to take the lives of righteous people.
They condemn innocent people to death.
22 The Lord has become my stronghold.
My God has become my rock of refuge.
23 He has turned their own wickedness against them.
He will destroy them because of their sins.
The Lord our God will destroy them.

P.S.
Bob Dylan’s Tears of Rage song was about the poor treatment of veterans of the Vietnam War who returned to find insults for their bravery and service. Popular version was by The Band.
We carried you in our arms on Independence Day
And now you’d throw us all aside and put us all away
Oh, what dear daughter ‘neath the sun could treat a father so?
To wait upon him hand and foot and always tell him “No”
Tears of rage, tears of grief
Why must I always be the thief?
Come to me now, you know we’re so alone
And life is brief.
Me too. I hope it’s great so we can all wear it with pride.
The Talmud is always right.
Media leakers will ignore any ban. But they will demand harsh punishment if Trump ignores a gag order.
Put it on t-shirts.
Fantastic. Thank you and Amen.
The Case:
* 1. Consent
* 2. Signed agreement without duress.
* 3. Election benefit either way, more votes-less votes unprovable.
* 4. Damages unprovable.
